Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have made a commitment to provide support of $250,000 to organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by Tennessee wildfires in Sevier County, which includes Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. The funds will assist coordination efforts with local elected officials and governmental entities to meet the needs of those who need it most.

“We are deeply saddened by these devastating fires and the catastrophic effect it is having on our associates and residents of Sevier County,” said Lee Siler, Walmart’s Sr. Manager for Global Disaster Response and Preparedness. “Since the initial notification of the fire, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have been fully committed to the relief efforts, donating water and sheltering supplies and we will continue to work with local organizations in offering them our full support.”

Walmart has a long history of providing aid in times of disasters, helping communities prepare and recover by donating emergency supplies, such as food and water, home and personal products. In the last 10 years, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have donated more than $56 million in cash and in-kind donations in response to disaster events.
